The mission of the Communications Supervisor is to service and grow Tipping Point’s existing client base within the Buffalo office. This position serves the needs of a broad range of clients and industries, requiring a wide variety of marketing communications solutions.

Functional Leadership:

    • Bring a depth of expertise in marketing communications strategy to clients and team members; guide communications decisions and encourage strategic thinking
    • Serve as lead contact for clients, establishing strong relationships as their business partner
      • Identify how communications can impact clients’ business goals
    • Ensure client deliverables are completed at a high quality and delivered on time
    • Ensure budgets are maintained
    • Provide direct client support and team leadership
    • Lend insights/hands-on support to new business campaigns

    • Exhibit established and continued development of expertise in strategic marketing communications, including paid media, digital, public relations, and content, as well as 1:1 marketing, websites, research, and other tactics relevant to helping our clients grow their businesses
    • Leverage data analysis and digital analytics to make strong communications recommendations
    • Aggressive use of, understanding of, and continued learning about digital media tactics
    • Establish / strengthen relationships with reporters and sales reps in Buffalo and other markets as required

    • Client Management
      • Personally manage a client list representing $300K or more in AGI
      • Establish strong professional relationships with clients
      • Ensure that clients receive optimal service
      • Assume responsibility for campaign/program results and client satisfaction
      • Plan and manage client meetings, including standing meetings
      • Keep meetings on-time and on-subject, ensuring productivity and efficiency
    • Project Management
      • Manage the implementation of media, PR, research projects balancing doing work directly and overseeing team members’ implementation of tactics
      • Assign projects to team members and manage project timelines
      • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and all support vendors (designers, illustrators, photographers/videographers, web developers, printers, mail houses, entertainers, venues/caterers, etc.) in a variety of creative and production projects, ranging from ad development (print/TV/radio/digital), collateral production (print and digital), website and social media channel development, photography sessions, and client sponsorship opportunities
      • Manage production calendars and project management from concept stage to completion of the final deliverables
      • Manage budget and production specification parameters throughout
    • Media Relations
      • Ensure clients’ media relations projects and campaigns are implemented appropriately and strategically, including
        • News release development, distribution and follow-up
        • Media material development and dissemination
        • Story pitching
        • List development
        • Measurement and Reporting
    • Special Events
      • Coordinate the implementation of special events, including press conferences, grand openings, groundbreakings, open houses, sales meetings, etc.
        • Speaker agenda/flow
        • Manage media presence (invitations and on-site media relations)
        • Rental/vendor arrangements
        • Coordinate miscellaneous needs
          • On-site signage, groundbreaking shovels, awards, gift bags, etc.
    • Social Media Programs
      • Oversee development and posting of content for client social media postings
      • Develop in-depth familiarity and personal use of Social Media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
        • Ensure all professional and personal posts are professional and do not malign current or potential clients (companies or individuals), client hometowns, client competition, Tipping Point, co-workers, vendors, etc.
    • Media Monitoring
      • Track online advertising and social media campaign results and identify/recommend strategic improvements to the team
      • Keep current with local, regional and national news
        • Scan local papers (Buffalo News, Buffalo Business First, Democrat and Chronicle, Rochester Business Journal, specialty pubs), relevant regional and trade media (per client workload), and major national media
        • Create Google Alerts, utilize Cision software and other electronic monitoring for client, competitor and industry news
    • Other duties as requested
      • All Tipping Point team members are expected to roll up their sleeves to help their colleagues as best as they can
      • All team members are responsible for maintaining a clean workspace, caring for company property (including computers), and maintaining common areas
      • Participation in company team-building and social events (held during the work day) count as a part of your job responsibilities
