Marketing Communications Intern

Reports to: Account Supervisor and Account Coordinator

We are currently looking for a marketing communications intern for the summer. Our intern program requires that participants be able to receive college credit.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Event and media coverage reports
    • Assist PR Assistant with compiling media coverage reports completed upon individual client needs (monthly, post-event, as-news-happens)
      • Learn online news collection sources and software
      • Associate metrics with established PR objectives
      • Become familiar with standard media relations measurements
  • Media list management
    • PR Interns will work directly with PR Assistant to learn these vital tools in agency PR
      • Develop media lists for specific media relations uses: news release distribution, story pitches, etc.
  • News release writing & distribution
    • Write news releases for various Tipping Point PR client initiatives, at direction of PR Assistant and PR President
    • Distribute news releases per direction
      • Leverage media database
        • Prepare client logos in database
        • Utilize timed releases
  • Research
    • Assist PR Assistant in conducting secondary research to support clients’ Public Relations initiatives
    • Become fluent in relevant online and offline resources: PR/marketing resources, client industry and trade associations, local libraries, etc.
  • Client meeting attendance
    • Attend client meetings on request of PR Team
  • Event participation
    • Provide pre-event support including media relations activities, special event outline/action grid creation and updates, team meeting attendance/participation, etc.
    • Provide on-site support including logistics, media management, media relations materials distribution, VIP coordination/management, etc.
  • Other Client Work
    • Assist the PR Team in preparing media kits for distribution
      • Compiling media lists, filling kits, organizing and re-ordering stock and supplies, following-up with select media outlets and reporters
    • PR Interns may be given opportunities to follow-up on news releases and pitch local, regional, and national reporters to promote client initiatives
    • Work closely with all PR team members to develop written materials for clients: news releases, fact sheets, backgrounders, by-lined articles, etc.
